Fold is an embedded database that keeps computed results up to date as data changes. You store records, describe what you want derived from them (counts, joins, rankings, search), and fold maintains those results as records are added or removed, without recomputing them from scratch.
Every app here runs on its own fold database, inside the server. Each stores only what people do: a move, a keystroke, a stroke, a trade. Everything on screen is a view that fold keeps current. Each app's rules are checked by fold on every change, all or nothing. And when a view changes, fold hands over exactly what changed, which every open page receives live, with no sync code and no diffing.
